A young woman is drawn back to her unstable childhood home by prophetic episodes of her mother’s death, only to encounter the return of her estranged father, who shares the same visions.
In rural Australia, a haunting vision compels Marissa to return to her hometown. She reunites with her mother, Elise, the focus of her visions, and her surrogate father figure, Murray. As Marissa struggles to readjust, a troubling incident at the local church leaves Elise and the townspeople distraught. During this, Marissa captures the curious attention of Natalie, the daughter of the local priest, Father Josh. That night, Marissa has a terrifying dream that signals the return of her estranged father, Lorne.
Lorne’s sudden appearance brings with it ominous premonitions of Elise's death, confirming Marissa’s worst fears. As she attempts to make sense of it all, Marissa encounters a terrifying apparition. Desperate for answers, she seeks out Lorne, who has taken refuge with Murray, his oldest and only friend.
As the two become reunited, Lorne’s presence becomes increasingly unbearable for Elise, who, with Father Josh’s support, confronts Lorne. Marissa confides in Natalie about her psychic gift, and they bond over the apparition of Natalie's deceased mother. However, their connection is abruptly severed when Elise suffers a deadly episode, causing Natalie to abandon Marissa and leave her alone in her mother’s final moments.
Following Elise’s funeral, both Lorne and Marissa spiral into grief. Marissa is confronted by Father Josh, who learns of her psychic abilities. As Marissa and Lorne mourn their losses, they begin to open up to each other, discovering their shared psychic connection.
Determined to uncover her family's history, Marissa continues her investigation, while Lorne grapples with feelings of failure over not saving Elise. Although Natalie tries to reconcile with Marissa, she ultimately decides to cut ties. Lorne’s mental state deteriorates further when he experiences a breakdown, during which he reveals a chilling prophecy: his death at the hands of Marissa.
The tension escalates as he tries to hunt down Marissa, and the two come face-to-face in a warped sense of reality within each other's minds. The story culminates in despair when Marissa is forced to kill Lorne, fulfilling the prophecy of his existential horrors.
